well, the snow came. it started snowing on friday around 2 or so . . . and just stopped sometime this afternoon (sunday). we got at least a foot of snow.
now, it's starting to rain and it's getting all slushy in some places and icey in others.
cross your fingers for us for tomorrow. we have to drive to boston. catch a plane. land in seattle. rent a van with our friends (due to an unadvertized airline pet embargo on our connecting flight to pdx) and drive with our dogs down to portland . . . hopefully we will arrive in pdx near 2 am tuesday morning.
then we have to figure out how to get down to keizer to be with our families.
all in snowy, rainy, icey, cold weather.
why do people want white christmases again?
just kidding. the snow was beautiful!
even though it claimed my cell phone.
that's right. i dropped my phone (unknowingly) in the snow. it's dead. gone. along with all my phone numbers. all my photos. everything.
so, before heading to boston tomorrow, i get to brave the mall and try to get a new one. boo. maybe i will wait til i get to oregon and do it there?
well, supposedly there is supposed to be a blizzard today . . . schools and "non-essential gov't services" have been shut down.
but it was supposed to heavily snowing by noon. it is now 1pm.... did the snow not get the memo?
so, we are hunkered down at home. cleaning, doing laundry, making our list (of things to do before we fly home) and checking it twice. our friend caroline is coming over with the BBC's pride and prejudice on dvd . . .
i finally loaded all our photos on the computer from thanksgiving and on . . . so, due to our "snow day" i'll prob get around to posting them today or tomorrow.
we woke up all snuggled in our beds and i said to jon "do you think it snowed last night?"
"i don't know" he replied.
he peered out the window . . . "how did you know if was going to snow?!"
i just started laughing. i don't know why it was funny to me that it had snowed. or why it was funny that i knew it had snowed . . . maybe i thought it snowed because of how quiet it was . . . but i just kept laughing and saying "it snowed!"
so we bundled up and walked down to have breakfast at the diner i work at (which all those famous people below have eaten at in the past month or so - that's what they have in common).
