best wedding of your life
we just (ok a week ago) got back from being in texas for our best friends' wedding. it was perfect.i am so homesick and lonely now.
and the people who live upstairs from us are thumping their loud hallowe'en party music and it is one in the morning and i have to get up and WORK ALL DAY tomorrow and I CAN'T EFFING SLEEP THROUGH THIS STUPID MUSIC.
i don't know what makes it worse, knowing i have to get out of bed and work (on a sprained ankle on a SUNDAY) or knowing that the people upstairs don't care that i can't sleep through their crappy music cause they don't have to work tomorrow.
suck.

8 things:1. sometimes i make myself coffee in the morning just for the experience of drinking it, not because i really want the caffeine.
2. sitting on my kitchen table are two bottles of "maple syrup." one belongs to the husband and one belongs to the roommate. the ingredients in the husband's syrup are: "100% organic maple syrup from grade a dark lumber." the ingredients in the roommate's syrup are: "water, sugar syrup, high fructose corn syrup, cellulose gum, salt, sodium benzoate and sorbic acid, caramel color, phosphoric acid, natural and artificial flavors, corn syrup, sodium hexametaphosphate, molasses, malted barley and corn syrup." it doesn't even HAVE maple syrup in it. it should be called "corn syrup and sodium masquerading as maple syrup."
3. i hate maple syrup. in all forms.
4. i leave in one week for omaha nebraska en route to texas for 10 days! yay for seeing good friends and for weddings! yay for getting out of rhode island for a while! yay for flying with my husband!
5. people think i am not shy. this is not true.
6. i just installed a pet barrier in my car this morning. all by myself. now hudson can chill in the back of the car without me worrying that he'll jump over and cause me to crash. did i mention that i did it without any help?
7. i really like cheese. especially real, fresh mozerella.
8. since moving to rhode island i have become a much cleaner, more organized person. partly because i cut my number of posessions down to a third of what they used to be . . . partly because i have a pet that will eat things if i leave them out, and partly because i have a roommate and i don't want her to think i am gross.

hi there!i thought of you last night while watching the colbert report with my roommate (a full 3 hours before it is aired in the PNW). colbert was listing off the top 5 threats ("threat down" it was called) to our nation's security or something like that and you wanna know what the number one threat was?
it was stone cold ROBOTS.
Robots were the number one threat on the "threat down" last night.
i thought you would appreciate that.

i've been doing some reading
so.the october issue of national geographic? it's all about global warming and alternative fuel sources and stuff.
so, i've been reading up on ethanol made from corn while on the can (did i say too much?) and it says that it has been driving corn prices up and also the cost of corn-fed meats (beef, pigs, etc) . . . already like 1/3 of the nation's corn goes to ethanol and it is hardly making a dent here.
so i got to thinking: i wonder how much percent of our corn goes to feed the thousands and thousands of animals in factory farms? and if, just what if, we all made a plan to kill and eat like half as many animals as we did before (i don't eat them at all, but i am just saying "what if") . . . this would do several things.
a) reduce the demand for corn and other grains to feed the cows, etc. cause we wouldn't be raising as many.
b) increase the amount of corn and other grains that are available for distilling into biofuels.
c) decrease the amount of land being used for factory farms (though they already cram too many animals into too small of lots, so maybe they should just keep the farms the same size and hold less animals there . . . sort of like prisons in california) . . . potentially allowing more land for growing MORE grains for distilling.
d) improve the health of americans across the nation in several ways:
1) our arteries would be healthier
2) our gastrointestinal systems would be healthier
3) we would have less "bad" cholesterol (which comes only from animal products) in our systems
4) we would be breathing in less bad fumes from rock oil and fossil fuels (biofuel burns MUCH cleaner than fossil fuel)
our lungs, hearts, arteries, etc would be so much healthier! not to mention our weight, acne, etc.
PLUS cow-farts are (seriously people this is true) raising the temperature of the earth too. so less cows equals less farts equals less CO2 in the atmosphere . . .
wow! i could go on . . .
this is all just speculation really. whatcha think?

U.N. CLIMATE PANEL REPORT'S KEY FINDINGS

Here are the key findings on climate change from a February 2, 2007 report by the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, which represents the work of 2,500 researchers from more than 130 nations.
Evidence Of Human Causes
** "Most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic (human) greenhouse gas concentrations," it says. The IPCC says "very likely" means at least a 90-percent probability.
** "The level of confidence that humans are causing global warming has increased a lot," report author Peter Stott said.
Temperature Increases
** It is very likely that extremes such as heat waves and heavy rains will become more frequent.
** "For the first time we have a best estimate of what we can achieve if we keep emissions levels lower," said report chair Susan Solomon.
** The report does not include possible warming from methane, a potent greenhouse gas, escaping from melting permafrost.
** Warming is expected to be greatest over land and at high northern latitudes, and least over the Southern Ocean and North Atlantic.
Sea Level Rises
** The report cites six models with core projections of sea level rises ranging from 7.2 to 23.6 inches this century. That is a narrower and lower band than the 3.5 to 34.6 inch gain forecast in 2001.
** If the Greenland ice sheet melts proportionally to the temperature increases, then sea levels would rise by up to 31.6 inches this century.
** Some models show an ice-free Arctic in summer by 2100, meaning that sea ice floating in the water disappears, but not ice resting on Greenland.
** If the Greenland ice sheet melted completely, that would lead to a 23.1-foot (7-metre) sea level increase.
Changing Ocean Currents
** The report predicts a gradual slowdown this century in ocean currents such as the one that carries warm water to northwest Europe.
** "It's very unlikely there will be an abrupt breakdown in ocean currents in the 21st century," said Jurgen Willebrand, the report's author with special expertise in ocean effects.
Hurricanes
** The report says it is "more likely than not" that a trend of increasing intense tropical cyclones and hurricanes has a human cause.
** It predicts such tropical cyclones will become more intense in the future.
** "There may not be an increase in number, there may be a redistribution to more intense events -- which is what has been observed in the Atlantic since 1970," Stott said.
