so, i was blogging about our trip to oregon for christmas . . . and we've been home from that for like 2 months. i just got back from ANOTHER trip to oregon on wednesday. my best friend had her baby and i went back to spend a week with her and help her with the baby. he is the cutest and i love him.
we've also gotten a new roommate named lisa. and she is awesome and we love her. she is studying illustration at RISD (rhode island school of design) and it is FABULOUS to have her here adding her artistic sense to the place. today we went on a huge trip to target to get some things we've long been needing for the apartment (can someone say "bath mat"?). when she first moved in, we painted the kitchen, living room and her room in one weekend (with the help of her most awesome boyfriend) and have continued to rearrange and scheme new ways of making the apartment fabulous.
jon and i haven't celebrated valentine's day yet . . . but the day after i got back from portland (well the same day since i came in at 1am, but really . . .) he DID leave me flowers (daffodils. my fave) and a note saying he was so glad i was back. i think maybe he missed me?
hudson missed me too . . .
anyway, a few more photos from christmas to be followed (slowly) by photos of times since christmas . . .
we saw our friends rob, corrie, seth and lacy and their kids for an evening of dinner and smiles.
thier kids are the best
gracie was a princess
caleb was a bit sleepy but oh so cute in his cowboy pajamas
and the food, as always was delicious . . . and the company was fantastic. jon met rob when they both worked at the same coffee shop in gresham. and we met seth and lacy at rob and corrie's wedding. somehow we just all hit it off so well! :)
later that night we met with friends to watch the traditional "waiting for guffman" and the classic "legends of the fall." there were several puppy friends in the house and plenty of "quote-worthy" moments in the movies.

we finally got to christmas. we spent a few days before christmas at jon's mom's house in eugene. it was good to see the family (mom, brother and grandma) and get ready for the big day shopping and decorating. and watching episodes of LOST season 3. very important.
jon's mom has a dog named Timber. we were hoping that he and hudson would be friends, but timber is very territorial and doesn't tolerate young pups who want to play. timber made it very apparent to hudson that he was alpha dog and wasn't to be bothered. so hudson left him alone (unless his couriosity couldn't stop him from trying again to be friends). they did fine on walks togehter though and jon and i would take them out on this road behind barb's house for an hour or so a day. timber would chase his ball or a stick and hudson would chase any living thing that moved . . . cows . . . birds . . . something mysterious in the blackberry bushes. good times.
day of christmas . . . we dressed the dogs up. hudson wore a collar with bells and timber wore reindeer antlers. they "loved" it. and by loved i mean probably hated.
we had a nice, small christmas with the family. including a baby shower for jon's cousins who were expecting a baby this february (she was born on feb 11th, happy healthy and wonderful!). jon's fam adopted a family through an organization in town and spent money and time blessing them rather than on ourselves. it was a nice change.
we did, however, get hudson a present. we bought him a bone and wrapped it up. he did a great job unwrapping it all by himself and proceeded to eat half of it for the entire rest of the day.
good times with family.

that evening, we went back up to salem to celebrate my mom's 50th birthday and the rest of christmas. we played a hillarious game of "who what where" with my mom's best friend and her family while jon and pete entertained the kids and the dogs in the basement by playing ping pong for hours.
my mom and dad on christmas morning
we spent the next few days chillin' in salem. getting coffee with friends, hiking in silver creek falls (in the snow!) with the family and generally relaxing and having a good time. (it snowed on christmas day!! that never happens in oregon!)
my friend bry (who just got ENGAGED!) at the coffee house cafe in salem
sister deborah and i at same coffee house
jon and hudson jack london style in silver creek falls

after our 3 mile hike in the snow (very unprepared!) hudson lay right down in the small area behind the bench of my sister's pick-up truck and fell asleep in the most uncomfortable position ever. he was pooped.
one more week to catch up on . . . and i am only 2 months behind! yay!!
this reminds me of that one time when ryan's dad said (pre 9/11) he wanted to organize a musical in the airport . . . like have all these people dressed as different things (passengers, janitors, flight attendants, etc) and on cue music starts playing over the intercom and everyone sings and dances and then when the song is over, they go about their business like nothing happened.
my seahorse came safely into the world . . . i don't have much info now cause momma and baby are resting and don't want to be bothered with phone calls . . . i'll know more soon . . .
crap. i need $200 so i can fly home and see that kid.*
