PICTURES!!!
i finally uploaded a ton of pictures . . . so here's an update with them:so, the weekend before thanksgiving, my sister Sara and her boyfriend Peter came to visit.
we had a great time! they got to meet hudson, we went out to eat, we played cranium, we went to Salem, Mass with our friends Sage and Aaron, we went to see Bright Eyes at Lupo's Heartbreak hotel (It was a great venue and an AWESOME show, btw), and more!

the opening band, the felice brothers, were AMAZING. i've googled and googled them but i can't find a website for them . . . yet. but you MUST check them out. i am in love with the drummer. he is such a pirate. anyway, conor oburst sang with all the groups that night . . . and at the end, all of the bands came out and did a few cover songs together - one by neil young and another by tom petty. sweet.

the next wednesday was thanksgiving. we went out to new london where sage and aaron live and spent the day with them. aaron made 4 pies! the pecan was to die for! we also had a tofurkey (my first year trying this) and it was actually really good. jon said it was better than the turkey
instead of making sweet potatoes with marshmallows like most people do (yuck), i make them with caramelized onions and garlic in a nice sauce . . .
this is one of mine and jon's favorite ways to eat sweet potatoes. yum!
while aaron and i were cooking dinner, jon distracted hudson downstairs and sage dressed chloe up like a ballerina.
after dinner we walked the "kids" down to the beach and husdon went swimming!! he LOVES the ocean. he doesn't really play fetch, but if you throw a stick in the ocean he will swim out and get it. then he wants you to chase him for it :)

chloe just watched. she HATES water. she actually was running after hudson for a while, barking at him as if to say, "you are CRAZY! why are you getting in that water? don't you know it will make you wet and cold?" Hudson is alaskan. he doesn't care.

we walked back together and the dogs seemed to be getting along
until chloe got too close to hudson's toy and he freaked out. they fight over toys alot. children.
speaking of toys . . . we got hudson his christmas gift early . . .
he got a BACKPACK from REI!! the vet says he needs to loose 5 pounds, so when we take him hiking now he gets to carry his own stuff. and we have to start actually measuring out his food rather than just eyeballing it.
he LOVES wearing his backpack around the house. the only problem is he is alreay clumsy and doesn't realize how big he is even without it, so he runs into things a lot.

we are crate traning him right now for the flight home to portland. now that it is getting colder in new england (it SNOWED yesterday!) he spends a lot of time napping in his crate because his body heat fills the kennell up and keeps it nice and warm. we got him this stuffed squeaky toy for thanksgiving and here he is sleeping with it:

lately, we've been playing this game with his stuffed animal, where i will get it and hide is and he will have to find it. he's pretty good at it. i always put it somewhere he can see it, but he doesn't find it right away. and once he's found it, he will bring it back and we'll do it again.

what a happy, spoiled boy.
we took him to the vet today and got him a clean bill of health for the plane ride . . . we're coming home in 9 days! yay!
