home
it's good to be home.
the week went by fast and had its ups and downs. for the most part it was a good experience. i had some awesome conversations with people. some frustrating conversations with people. i haven't talked about my dreads or the fact that i am a vegetarian so much in my entire life. but on the whole, it was good.
plus, EVERYONE was being eaten alive by bugs! everyone, that is, except for me and my friend jack. she is a vegetarian too and neither of us got bit by bugs . . . hmmm . . .
buuuuut i've been back now for 4 days and the entire time i've been back i've had NO VOICE. it's gone. i don't think i am really sick or anything, i feel fine. sometimes my nose gets clogged. but mostly its just my voice. gone. it was funny at first and sort of cute. but now it is just frustrating and yucky. i have to work at the zoo tomorrow (first concert!!! yay! the wailers! come on out and see them and buy a beer from me!) and i NEED MY VOICE to do that.
in other news: i spent some time at the moon and sixpence with some amazing people after watching Dr Strangelove (one of my favorite stanley kubric movies of all-time) with friends (including ARWEN!) last night . . . sunday i slept all day while the husband cleaned the attic out in preparation for moving and then we went and saw dolorean play at the doug fir. excellent. saturday we had a small dinner with some friends and ended up staying up late making music and laughing the kind of laughter that comes from deep friendships, good conversation and just enough wine. except the part where i had no voice the entire time!
it's been good to be home. i love portland and i am going to miss it so much.
