man. my friend just told me yesterday that this family she knows had their house burn down and they lost everything too. if the wife and kids hadn't been out of the house, the kids might be dead . . . by the time the dad woke up, the kid's room was gone.it's like 10 blocks from my house.
also, we went swimming this weekend in the columbia river. to get there, we drove by all these news vans and police and a dive and rescue team. but no ambulance. so we thought maybe they were looking for something that was lost in the river and that probably no one was hurt.
the next day, my friend told me that what really happened was that there was a boating accident and a woman had her leg chopped off at the knee! and we were swimming downstream of it!
lastly, it is raining here in portland oregon today. for the first time in a good long while. i am happy because a) i LOVE rain and b) due to staying up late at the rocky horror picture show party last night, i drove to work rather than rode my bike. good thing, because i don't have fenders on her yet . . . no mud mohawk for me.
