mmmm . . . friday . . .
jon is back from camping in the rainforest. they took d's dog. he is a husky named kodiak. they took him to keep them warm. he wouldn't have protected them i don't think. they came back early because it rained the entire time (um, what did you think would happen? its the rainforest!). they were soaking wet and dirty! but i think they had fun.my friends took good care of me while he was gone--thank you!!--giving me rides (he took the car) and letting me sleep in their houses (and beds).
my mother-in-love and brother-in-love are staying at our house tonight. brother is flying back to florida where he is stationed in the air force . . . his christmas leave is over :(
then mary and brian from kansas are coming to our house saturday (after my cousin's wedding) and staying with us for a week! we met them on couch surfing and will be hosting them while they apartment and job search as well as get to know the city. we love having people stay with us, but we both also start school on monday so this week is going to be wild! i haven't even looked at my list of required books for the term yet . . .
two great stories from the week:
#1: tuesday, i went to a friend's house and we had girl night. pajamas, slippers, french onion soup, cheesey bread, popcorn, applecranberry crisp, and the second season of 21 jumpstreet!! let me tell you, it was fabulous!
#2: wednesday, i went to thai food (mmmm thai orchid!) for lunch with my boss and another co-worker and as i was reading the paper that my chopsticks came in (it said: "welcome to chinese restaraunt. please try your nice chinese food with chopsticks the traditional and typical of chinese glonous history and cultual" spell check that.) and i dropped the paper on the floor. leaning over in my chair to pick it up (so i wouldn't actually have to stand up out of my chair and bend over to get it) my chair slid across the hardwood floor and tipped over, leaving me sprawled gracefully on the floor. the other 8 people in the restaraunt let out a collective "gasp!" and "is she ok?!?" mortified, i laugh and turn red and get back in my chair, composing myself. "i'm ok." i giggle.
"quick!' shouts my boss, "everyone fall out of your chair so that tabitha jane wont feel alone in her embarrassment!" he and my co-worker fake like they are loosing their balance and are going to fall out of their chairs. only, my boss actually goes through with it and acts like he fell out of his chair, landing on his butt on the ground!!
"thanks. that means a lot to me. that was very nice of you. now get off the floor!"
as we were leaving the restaraunt, i said "hey guys, remember that time we went to thai food and i fell out of my chair in front of the whole restaraunt?"
"yeah... that was great." they replied.
