expectorant

driving to work today on i-84 was wild. the wind is crazy down the gorge at this time of year. and i drive east while going to work and west going home . . . into the sun the entire time.

so, it's been sunny and hella windy all day. clear and COLD.

my whole family is coming to my apartment for thanksgiving. there will be 11 people in my one bedroom apartment for almost 12 hours straight. we have a small oven. it might be the size of half of a regular oven. this should be an adventure!
my 6 sisters, my mother, my father, my husband, and my sister's fiance will all be there.
are there things i can make tomorrow rather than wait and make them all the day of?

~~does anyone have any ideas for crafts or activities to do with my little sisters or my whole family?~~

we will probably have our usual cranium tournament . . . but other than that . . . i'm not sure.

except . . .
at lunch today a bunch of us ladies got together and made turkeys out of candy. it was cute and fun. i told my veggie friend that hers was most definitely a tofurkey.

how you make them:
open an oreo cookie. put chocolate frosting on both halves (over the white frosting) stick a chocolate covered marshmallow cookie (don't know the names) on top of one of the oreo halves (this is the body of the turkey). stick the other half of the oreo (the non marshmallow half) vertically against the back of the "body" (this is the tail). stick candy corns in the frosting of the tail to make feathers. use frosting to stick a hershey's kiss to the front of the body to make the head (the point of the kiss is the beak). use some red frosting to make the waddle (is that the right word?) under the turkey's beak. it's pretty cute . . . wish i had a picture . . . i will search the internet for one.
it was funny to see a bunch of grown ladies (some of them grandmothers) sitting around doing this preschoolish craft.
and then eating it.
(well, i guess the turkeys looked sort of like this . . . but not exactly because we used the marshmallow cookies as well)

i saw the new harry potter flick yesterday (with breanna).
~~read no more if you don't want any spoilers~~

i just have a few things to say about the new HP:
~the new dumbledor: yuck. i hate him. he is too theatrical and emotional and reactive. the old dumbledor was so calm and collected and trustworthy and humble and stable. this new one is too grandiose. i don't like it.
~i still have a crush on rupert (i.e. the boy who plays ron). he can take me to the yule ball any time!
~it was cool to see what the makers of the story believed voldemort should look like. my imagination just wasn't cutting it on this one.
~the latest movie really is scary and sad at times . . . don't take your 9 year old to go see it without watching it first yourself.
~read the effing books people! they are so good.

yes. i know i am a nerd.
