sweet baby james

want to know why i have the best friends of ever?

well, i'll tell you a little story.

once upon a time, there was this girl. she met this boy and they got married. for the wedding, they picked out all of their favorite songs. one of them was "something in the way she moves" by james taylor.

so, the point here is, not only is james taylor an amazing icon of american folk music, he also means a great deal to this girl and her boy.

where is this story going? well, james taylor is coming to oregon for two days in august! but the girl and the boy are pretty broke and since james taylor is crazy amazing, it is also expensive to see him in concert (not like $300 expensive, but $50 expensive). so they were thinking about ways to possibly get to see him including asking the boy's mother to get them tickets for their anniversary (which is also in august).

this is the part of the story where the bestest friends of ever step in. actually the bestest friend. his name is dors and even though we have only known him since april 9th, 2005 to be exact, his character and generosity have not gone unnoticed. he is such a giving person and a wonderful friend to have.

so last night (during our break from massage class), he come up to me and hands me these rolled up sheets of paper.

"what's this?"

"happy anniversary/birthday" he replied (did i mention that my birthday is also in august?)

i scan the papers . . . they are tickets to james taylor that dors had bought for us online!!!

so, i proceed to freak out a bit, give him a pretty sloppy hug and say something cheesey in greatful response. when i get home from class i say to my husband, "you'll never guess what dors gave us!" and of course, he never did guess, so i told him . . .

but seriously, dors is the best! can you even believe it? and he didn't even buy a ticket for himself! (maybe he doesn't love james t as much as i do . . . he is going to see sarah mac in concert in vancouver b.c. this weekend, lucky duck).

i still can't believe we are really getting to go to see james taylor and that we have such a generous and amazing friend! words can't really explain it all . . . i hope you understand my excitement just a little.

and that's my story. the end.
