a look into the secret life of tabitha jane; a bloggerview by rebecca marie
i was honored enough to have been able to have been interviewed by rebecca marie this week. you may read the riviting results below.1) You’ve got William Shakespeare’s undivided attention for one hour. How do you spend that hour?
hmmm, this is a good one . . . i think first of all i would ask the age-old question of whether or not it was really him who wrote all those plays. scholars have debated the question for so long and i would really love to know the truth. then i would ask him if "the taming of the shrew" was written as satire or if he really felt that way about women. i think that would lead us in to a lively discussion regarding women's roles in society and the differences and similarities between our two worldviews in general. if we had time following that, i might show him some clips of what has been done with some of his works on film (since he obviously died before they were made) and ask him if they met his standards or not.
also, i hope he is a beautiful as joseph fiennes (who plays him in shakespeare in love) . . .
2) If you could change one thing about your physical appearance, what would it be?
the orangy-red undertones in my skin coloring. i know this sounds strange, but it is something that, if changed, would solve a lot of "problems" in my life. i have keratosis pilaris* on the back of my upper arms and on my lower legs and i think that if the red tones in my skin were less obvious the kp would be too. and my acne and the scars from previous acne wouldn't stand out as much on my face. i would look better in flourescent lighting and i wouldn't feel so yucky when i wore shorts or tanktops because my skin would look healthier and less gross. but i know that worrying about physical appearance is shallow and, in the end, wont really matter. i don't want to be remembered when i die as that girl with the beautiful skin, but rather as that girl with the beautiful heart.
3) You are getting married tomorrow and you have to choose your groom. Your choices are Rodney Dangerfield, Sam Kinneson and Richard Nixon. Who do you pick and why?
well, since they are all dead, it doesn't really matter all that much.
i do think nixon was the best looking of the three, but he did have all that scandal behind his name. tabitha dangerfield does have a nice ring to it. i'll go with rodney. he was funny, and pretty well respected . . . (hee hee). besides, since they are all dead, i really just get their money right?
4) You’re on death row. Describe your last meal.
hmm . . . my last meal, eh? dessert from papa hayden's for starters. and i do mean i would eat dessert first! maybe some pad thai would be nice. but only if the peanut sauce was perfect. i think mostly, the food wouldn't matter. i might not even have an appetite if i knew i was going to die. i think i would rather spend that meal time with my family and friends, especially my husband. even if none of us could eat, just being together for one last meal would be so important. i think that meals together with family and friends really fosters good conversations and good relationships. there is something special to sitting down to good food, laugher, tears and memories with people that you love . . .
5) What three things do you want to be when you grow up?
1. i want to be a healer. someone who helps people realize the amazing power and strength that their bodies and spirits have to heal themselves and to nurture others. i am starting that process by going to massage school. i see this as a gateway to getting in to the alternative health and healing world and perhaps becoming a naturopathic physician or a nutritionist.
2. i want to be a volunteer. i want to give my time and money to help make the world a better place even if i never see the direct outcome of my efforts. i am working on doing this today by participating in fundraising events like the breast cancer walk we did in may.
3. lastly, i want to be at a place in life where i feel that i can honestly referr to myself as an artist. this means spending more time using and developing my creative and artisitic talents in order to express myself and reach others through abstract media rather than by using words and speech.
i would have said "i want to be a good wife and mother" but that's a given. i am fo' sho' already going to rock at those things! :)

*i would have said something else like get rid of my tummy or make my hair straighter, but those are things i could probably do on my own if i worked at it (working out or getting my hair straightened). i decided to go with something genetic that i have absolutely no control over.
