my friday afternoon lunch break
i went to lunch with the ladies from work. we went to
burgervillewhile in line to order our food, alicia got a call on her cell phone from her husband. he called to tell her that they were going to be able to go to las vegas and MEET
lenny kravitz
filled with a tiny bit of jealousy, i ate my yummy chicken strips and fries and slurped my smoothie (not that you were wondering, but i chose the chicken strips because i am trying to avoid eating beef when i can, and the last time i got a garden burger at burgerville, i threw up for the entire day--could have been food poisoning, could have been the flu . . .)
on the way back to work from lunch, alicia and i stopped at the gas station because i was on E and my rear passenger side tire was a little low on air. actually, i had been having problems with a slow leak in this tire for a while and i was pretty frustrated about having to fill it with air about once a week . . . so i go to the same place i always go to fill my tire. they have a free air pump, so i'm not spending 50 cents a week to get air in my tire. but this time, something didn't seem right, before i realized exactly what was happening, i had
less air in my tire than before . . . the pump had been broken and, instead of putting air in the tire, it let more air out.
alicia and i approached the gas pumper man and inquired whether the pump was working or not. he said, "it's broken, sorry."
broken? there is no sign that says it is broken! what did they think we were doing parked over there for so long? having a party? why didn't someone walk over to us and say, "hey, that's broken"
before all the air was out of my tire and i was unable to drive my car for fear of ruining the rims?
all the gas station attendant did was point us across the street to a mechanic that specialized in tires. very used to the situation (it must happen frequently) the friendly mechanic walked back across the street with us with a portable air pump in hand and filled my tire. he then told us it would only cost $8.50 to get the thing fixed. geeze, i would have given him $8.50 just for walking across the street with us!
waiting 1/2 an hour for the tire, we looked at this magazine called "giant." not too much interesting content save for this amazing article about the 6 1/6 years reunion of the cast members of
office space.
i tried to find a link to the article, but my computer doesn't have the right "flash software" or something, so i can't enter the giantmag site. another site with info about the flick can be found
here.
basically, that is my story about how i got to have a 2 hour lunch on friday . . .
say it don't spray it 12:08 PM
