vile and unattached

last night i was chatting with my dear friend breanna in pizzicato just before heading out for our glorious massage, i had a revelation. i thought i'd share it with my fabulous blogfans and see what your take on it was.
here goes:
ok, so you know how when people have uber long, beautiful hair and it is so shiney and smells so nice, you just can't help but compliment them? you want to play with it, braid it, etc. you wish you had it and you hope they never cut it. ok, so we are on the same wave length here with the whole hair thing right?
but what happens as soon as that hair is detatched from that head? it becomes gross and disgusting doesn't it? you find it on the floor, in the bathroom sink, the drain in the shower, caught in the hairbrush, in the carpet, wrapped around the vacuum cleaner thingy, and the worst is when you wake up in the morning, step out of bed and *ew!* it gets tangled between your toes!
why is that? how can something be so beautiful and wonderful to us, and we don't mind touching it, brushing it, playing with it, but when it falls out or gets pulled out, it becomes revolting?
the same thing sort of goes for finger nails. i know women who are always getting their nails done, you know manicures and that sort of thing. we paint them, we have nail parties, we notice our barista's nails, compliment her on them, ask her who did them, and try that person out ourselves. but once those nails have been clipped off and are no longer attached to the finger, they become vile.
especially when they are my husband's toe nails. why are guys so gross sometimes? he clipped his nails while watching t.v. one day and left the clippings on the coffee table! EW!
but really, it is a strange phenomenon.
thoughts anyone?
